Ash-Shi’ra is Sirius and Sirius is Ash-Shi’ra. I have been making collars under the name of Sirius for almost 40 years. The name was born of a love of the night sky and in particular the collar star of the constellation Canis Major – the star we know as Sirius. In some languages of the Middle East, home of the Saluki, that star is known as Ash-Shi’ra.
